Standing inside Son Tra Nature Reserve in the central beach city of Da Nang, InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort won the award for “World’s leading green resort."

It beat nine other rivals including Forte Village Resort in Italy and Reethi Faru Resort in the Maldives to win the title.

Surrounded by lush green trees and palm trees, the 39-hectare resort in Da Nang has over 200 rooms, suites, penthouses, and villas along a 700-meter private beach.

Due to its location inside the nature reserve that is home to some critically endangered species like the red-shanked douc langur, the resort has strict policies to protect wildlife.

La Maison 1888 (pictured) is the resort's signature French cuisine restaurant.

Its setting resembles the vast dining room of a villa or mansion that would have been occupied by a noble French family overseeing a sprawling estate during the colonial period.

The restaurant serves foreign specialties like wagyu beef and pate-croute with a touch of Vietnamese flavor created by using local Asian ingredients.

Room rates start at VND12.8 million (US$530).
