The Vietnamese electronic music community has been buzzing in recent days when Garrix continuously posted travel photos in Hanoi and Quang Binh Province, home to Son Doong.
This is the third time the world's top DJ has come to Vietnam. The previous two times were for performances in 2016 and 2018.
He spent a few days participating in an exploration tour of Son Doong in Tan Trach Commune in Bo Trach District.
The cave is 656 feet high and nearly 500 feet wide and the average passage size is 220 feet, according to the Son Doong tourism website.
On Feb. 3, he wrote on his Instagram with 15.6 million followers that "4 of the most magical days ever! Thank you to the entire team who made this trip the trip of a lifetime!"
Oxalis Adventure, the only business allowed to run Son Doong cave tour, responded: "We are delighted that you, Lando Norris, and the rest of the team had a wonderful time on our Son Doong Cave Expedition. Our porters also expressed their gratitude for your kind and generous gift."
Garrix was also accompanied by his close friend, British-Belgian racer Lando Norris.
Below the post, DJ Alan Walker wrote: "I filmed one of my music videos there! Great location."
Son Doong cave tour is currently considered the most expensive and attractive in Vietnam with a ticket priced at about VND72 million (US$2,939) per person for a 6-day and 5-night tour.
During the tour, tourists will cross underground rivers, explore two gigantic cave ceiling collapses, traverse through underground rainforests, and sleep in some of the world's most magnificent campsites.
Tourists can also visit the Doong village, home to the Bru-Van Kieu ethnic minority group.
To join the expedition, visitors must prepare carefully in terms of physical strength, knowledge, and survival skills because the journey is very strenuous and challenging.
Previously, Oxalis announced that the tour is fully booked for the whole of 2024.
Garrix climbed the 90-meter-high stalagmite wall, considered the most difficult point to conquer in the journey.
Son Doong cave was discovered in 1990 by Ho Khanh, a local man.
Khanh later guided explorations by British cave experts who announced Son Doong as the largest cave in the world with a volume of more than 38 million cubic meters.
In addition to Son Doong, Garrix previously visited a coffee shop on Train Street in Hanoi and enjoyed the unique travel experience there.
Though Train Street was banned by local authorities due to safety reasons, many foreign tourists still flock there.
Born in 1996, Garrix is a Dutch DJ and producer. He was ranked number one on DJ Mag magazine's list of the world's top 100 DJs in 2016, 2017, 2018, 2022.
