Two days before Christmas, many churches in Vietnam are sparkling with colorful lights and decorations.

The facade of St. Joseph's Cathedral in Hanoi is decorated with a Christmas tree and nativity scene. Over the past few days, throngs of people have flocked to the cathedral to enjoy the festive spirit though Christmas Eve is still two days away.

The cathedral on Nha Chung Street in downtown Hoan Kiem District is one of the oldest churches in the capital and a popular tourist attraction.

Thanh Hoa Cathedral in Thanh Hoa Town of the eponymous central province was built more than 90 years ago in typical Gothic style. It attracts thousands of parishioners and visitors throughout the year.

At Phu Cam, the cathedral of the Archdiocese of Hue, two bell towers are decorated with electric lights, resembling Xmas trees. The premise also includes a nativity scene.

Although temperatures in the central town are falling to 13 degrees Celsius, many parishioners still flock to the church, which was designed by architect Ngo Viet Thu, on Phuoc Qua Hill to enjoy the Christmas spirit.

Saint Nicolas Cathedral, one of the most beautiful architectural works built during the French colonial time in Da Lat, is simply decorated with rows of lights.

Built between 1931 and 1942, it is the largest church in the resort town and a convergence point for Catholics living in the Central Highlands.

One of the most impressive features of the church, located on Tran Phu Street, is the rooster statue on its 47-meter bell tower, which has earned it the nickname “rooster church”.
