Caper flower season hits Quang Binh

A caper tree on the bank of Kien Giang River in Tuy Loc Village, Loc Thuy Commune, Le Thuy District is in full bloom.

Kien Giang River, about 58 kilometers in length, originates in Truong Son Range.

Locals hold this caper tree has stood on the river bank for a long time, with its age undetermined. Its grand canopy provides ample amounts of shade.

Caper flowers, with white and yellow petals, typically enter bloom in March each year.

The flowers bloom for only about a month, evoking memories of former student life among local inhabitants.

Many Loc Thuy Commune locals still do their laundry or bathe beneath the golden caper tree.

Thanks to visitors who come to enjoy Kien Giang River in caper flower season, boatmen are able to derive an extra income by organizing river tours.

Capers are a species of the genus Crateva and also known as Capparaceae.

At the Dai Phong Village shrine in Phong Thuy Commune, Le Thuy District, caper trees are also in bloom.
