The first train with 10 carriages departed from Hue Station at 7:45 a.m., with hundreds of tourists traveling more than 100 km to Da Nang.
A single ticket costs VND150,000 (US$6.05) and a monthly ticket at VND900,000.
Rustic dishes and specialties of the former ancient capital of Hue will be served at a booth on the train. Passengers can buy tickets for VND135,000 per person to enjoy food.
The train used for this route consists of five modern seating carriages and another for community activities. VIP waiting rooms are also arranged at the Da Nang and Hue stations to serve passengers.
The train will be equipped with wi-fi in April to ensure better experiences for passengers.
Tourists enjoy the ao dai (traditional Vietnamese long dress) performance on the train carriages on the opening day.
From the train, visitors can admire the natural scenery from the mountains to the fields of Hue countryside.
Two tourists from the U.S. praised the art performance and the scenery on both sides of the railway, especially the section passing Lap An Lagoon and Hai Van Pass. They also hailed the dishes served on board.
According to the schedule, the train stops at Lang Co Station in Hue's Phu Loc District for 10 minutes so that tourists can rest and admire the scenery. Visitors can freely take photos on the railway.
The train takes tourists through the Hai Van Pass, voted by international travel magazines as one of Asia's 10 most thrilling drives, to reach Da Nang, home to many beautiful beaches.
With two trains departing in the morning and afternoon from Hue to Da Nang and vice versa, visitors can catch the sunrise and sunset on Lang Co, which became famous after being recognized as one of the world’s most beautiful bays in 2009 by Germany-based World Bays.
