Those planning to stay back in HCMC during Tet can check out these seven eateries that will remain open through Vietnam’s biggest holidays from Feb. 8 to 15.

Situated in the expat-heavy Thao Dien area, Bui Restaurant has Indochina-style architecture with wooden tables and chairs and colorful lanterns.

It has outdoor seating set amid green trees.

Its menu focuses on specialties from the three regions of Vietnam like braised pork with eggs and coconut juice in clay pot, mango salad with prawns, Vietnamese fried pancake with seafood, mixed mushrooms, bean sprouts and onion, and fresh spring rolls.

It also has other outlets at 19 Ngo Van Nam, Ben Nghe Ward, District 1, and 31-D5, Saigon Pearl Villas, 92 Nguyen Huu Canh, Binh Thanh District and they will stay open from Feb. 10-15.

The Year of the Dragon begins this Saturday, Feb. 10.

Laang Saigon Restaurant has two branches, but only the one in Thao Dien will remain open during Tet.

The highlight of Laang Saigon Restaurant in Thao Dien is its green space created by tropical plants.

The menu is freshly made Vietnamese dishes from all three regions. It is suitable for family get-togethers at the beginning of the Lunar New Year. Due to increased operating costs during Tet, the restaurant will add a 15% service fee to the check.

Some of its signature dishes include char siu duck breast with pickled vegetables, crispy taro and seafood salad and fried chicken wrapped with lemongrass, served with red chili sauce.

It is located at 22 Dang Huu Pho Street.

Hoa Tuc Restaurant on Hai Ba Trung Street in District 1 is a Michelin-star eatery.

Located in an old French-era building, which used to be an opium (hoa tuc) factory built in the late 19th century, the restaurant serves traditional Vietnamese dishes such as grilled minced beef in betel leaf served with rice vermicelli, Saigon-style fried spring rolls, steamed minced apple snail and pork paste with lemongrass.

It is at 74/7 Hai Ba Trung Street, Ben Nghe Ward.

Located at 66 Ngo Duc Ke Street in District 1 in the heart of Saigon, Ann Restaurant specializes in northern dishes.

Most of its ingredients such as snail vermicelli, fish vermicelli, crab vegetable soup, wormwood rolls, and pickles are brought from the north.

The restaurant will remain open throughout the Tet holidays.

Khom (Pineapple) Coffee at 5 Tran Quy Khoach Street in District 1 is decorated with white lotus and non la (conical hats), traditional Vietnamese symbols, for Tet.

Its menu has a number of dishes specifically meant for the holiday.

A highlight of the cafe is its green space with tropical plants, where people flock to during weekends to take photos.

The coffee Tiem tra Thang Tu at No.3 Nhat Chi Mai Street in Tan Binh District is dressed up as a traditional incense village surrounded by calligraphy, red envelopes and traditional Tet decorations.

3T egg coffee chain has eight branches on busy streets in the middle of Districts 1 and 3.

All of them will remain open throughout Tet.

On Lunar New Year’s Eve on Friday they will remain open from 6 a.m. to 2 a.m.

From Feb. 10 to 12 they will be open from 10 a.m. to 1 a.m.

The coffee chain is famous for its egg coffee, a Hanoi specialty.
