The first-ever Luxury Awards Asia Pacific 2023 of New York-based travel magazine Travel+Leisure has selected the 10 best city hotels in Vietnam for this year, with HCMC topping the list with six.

Standing on Le Phung Hieu Street in Hanoi's Old Quarter, just a few steps from the iconic Hanoi Opera House, Capella Hanoi topped the list.

It has 47 rooms and suites, each individually styled with operatic artefacts and custom portraiture that pay tribute to legendary Opera artists, composers, designers and performances.

The hotel has gained more popularity after its restaurant Hibana by Koki made history to become one of the first four Vietnamese restaurants to receive a Michelin one-star rating.

Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi ranked second on the list.

Just 160 meters from St. Joseph's Cathedral, it is one of the oldest hotels in Hanoi and has served former U.S. presidents, including Barack Obama, during their visits to Vietnam.

The hotel has 364 rooms carrying features of French architecture.

It is home to a two-meter-high wartime bomb shelter discovered by chance in 2011. It was where many famous figures of the Vietnam War, including actress Jane Fonda and author Tom Hayden, both anti-war activists, took refugee as bombs rained down on Hanoi.

It has a 24-meter-long swimming pool decorated with unique tiles on the sixth floor where guests can enjoy music from the underwater sound system.

From 6 p.m. each evening there is an artistic light show beneath the pool.

Located along the Saigon River, Mia Saigon ranked fifth on the list.

It has 52 rooms with views of the Saigon River. Its architecture takes inspiration from Indochinese style.

Located at the corner of Nguyen Du and Hai Ba Trung streets in District 1, InterContinental Saigon was in sixth place.

Located on Le Lai Street not far from Bui Vien backpacker street in downtown HCMC, New World Saigon Hotel ranked seventh.

The hotel has over 530 rooms with views overlooking Ben Thanh Market, one of the city’s tourism symbols.

It’s not too far from popular tourist attractions like the Opera House, Notre Dame Cathedral, Nguyen Hue pedestrian street and Ben Thanh Market.

The InterContinental Hanoi Landmark 72, the tallest luxury 5-star hotel in Hanoi, finished the list.

The hotel opened in 2017 in Keangnam Hanoi Landmark Tower in Cau Giay District with 359 luxury rooms and 34 suites.

Nominees were selected by the Travel+Leisure team of editors and expert contributors across Asia Pacific, and the winners were chosen based on voting results.
