The Ronald Reagan, along with the USS Antietam and USS Robert Smalls, arrived in Da Nang on June 25.
The Ronald Reagan weighs 97,000 tons, is 333 m long and 77 m wide and powered by two nuclear reactors and four steam turbines. It has a top speed of over 55 kph, and can carry a crew of over 5,000.
Aircraft can take off from and land on the supercarrier. During the fleet’s visit to Da Nang, sailors have been coming ashore for exchanges with local people.
The ship's band has performed for youths in Hai Chau District and children at the Hope Village in Thanh Khe District.
Children at Hope School, which accommodates children who lost parents to Covid-19, sing along with the band.
On Wednesday a group of around 10 sailors visited a banh mi shop on Tran Phu Street in Hai Chau District.
"Da Nang is great, we want to sightsee, learn more about the culture and enjoy the cuisine here," one of the visitors said.
