Several defense industry firms from Russia, the U.S. and Israel have brought planes, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and other weaponries to the Vietnam International Defense Expo 2024.
The TP-150 aircraft is the result of cooperation between Vietnam and Italy, used for training. Its maximum speed is 300 kph.
Tp-150 is made of aluminum alloy and is capable of landing on different types of runways.
Flying Legend, the unit which develops the TP-150, said it has begun producing aircraft in Vietnam, and the TP-150 would be among its first products.
The U.S. brought to Vietnam several weaponries, including the A-10 Thunderbolt II aircraft. It weighs 13 tons.
The aircraft is equipped with the 30 mm GAU-8 Avenger autocannon. It can land and take off from short, non-asphalt runways, making it suitable for combat at the frontier.
The aircraft was developed by the Fairchild-Republic company from the early 1970s, and was used in the Gulf War.
The EADS CASA C-295 aircraft was manufactured at the Airbus factory in Spain, and is currently being used by the armies of 30 countries. It can carry over 9 tons of goods.
The C-295 is currently the most modern transportation aircraft of the Vietnamese People's Army. The aircraft has carried several equipment and weaponries to the expo.
The AW-189 helicopter has been in commercial use since 2014. Produced by Italy's Leonardo, it is capable of carrying 16 passengers and two pilots, with a maximum speed of 287 kph.
It has an autopilot feature, and the passenger area is soundproof.
A model of the C295 aircraft is seen at the booth of Airbus. It is designed to transport armies and goods, as well as for surveillance. It is capable of carrying 8 tons of goods, or up to 70 soldiers, with a maximum speed at 480 kph. Its fuel is enough to let it operate for 13 hours straight.
Airbus have supplied 300 C295 aircraft to several countries.
A T129 ATAK helicopter model is seen at Turkey's booth. It is capable of surveillance, land attacks and short-range anti-air capabilities.
The helicopter is equipped with cannons and missiles, capable of detecting and aiming at targets with high accuracy.
The model of the Anka-S drone is also seen at the both. The drone is used for reconnaissance, equipped with radars and sensors.
It can fly at 204 kph for 30 hours straight and is capable of carrying up to 350 kg of goods. The helicopter has been used by the Turkish Air Force since 2018.
Among the Vietnamese weaponries at the expo is the M400-CT2 UAV, used as training targets. It has a maximum speed at 260 kph, can fly for 120 minutes at a maximum height at 3,500 m.
The D-18 UAV developed by Vietnam is used for training and testing the capabilities of anti-air missiles. It has a maximum speed at 360 kph, can fly for 60 minutes, at a maximum height of 5,000 m.
An aerial tool to measure radioactivity levels is developed by the Z113 factory under the Vietnam Defense Industry. It can fly at 50 kph and at a height of 1,000 m.
The VU-C2 loitering munition, developed by Viettel, is equipped with artificial intelligence and is capable of detecting and locking onto targets. It can fly for 40 minutes straight.
