Thoan said he got married at the age of 22, and his family used to trade in scrap metal.
In 2004, he began purchasing land next to National Highway 7A to open an auto part trading business. Gradually, he became more prosperous.
"For many years, my wife and I have discussed dedicating our hearts and money to this building [the castle], aiming to create a comfortable living place, and a solid foundation for our children when they grow up," he shared.
The couple has two sons and two daughters, all of whom are working in Hanoi.
The exterior of the castle is decorated with bas-reliefs and stylized patterns.
The main hall is coated with a thin layer of copper, and some auxiliary spaces in the back are painted gold.
Thoan said that the bas-reliefs and decorative patterns on the walls were all made by skilled craftsmen from various regions across Vietnam.
Besides the staircase, the second and third floors will be accessible by an elevator, which is currently being installed.
The center of the building features a European stylized dome. The arch edges are plated with industrial gold.
The second floor includes two sets of tables and chairs, with doors that open to balconies and patios.
Thoan said that the purpose of the building is for “relaxation and rest after stressful working hours.” All floors have bedrooms and living rooms, with spacious entrances and exits.
Many expensive accessories decorate the inside of the home castle, including a 2 m, 24k gold-plated clock near the entrance on the first floor.
Many people from near and far have stopped to admire the home when passing by National Highway 7A.
They take photos and post them on social media.
The surrounding wall of the castle, over two meters high, is embossed with bas-reliefs and stylized patterns, surrounding a fish pond.
Inside the garden are several small landscapes, with stone tables placed inside. It is estimated that the entire project will be completed in six to eight months.
An official of My Thanh Commune considers Thoan's castle the largest and most impressive in the commune.
"Thoan's family is wealthy thanks to their ability to do good business. The auto parts trading facility provides jobs for dozens of workers inside and outside the commune," he said.
