The Lang Co Bay, considered to be among the world's most beautiful bays, has seen several tourism projects being approved for construction over many years.
Pictured above is the Minh Vien international resort, spanning 102 ha and with the Minh Vien company being its main investor. The project costs $368 million and includes several infrastructures, such as hotels and conference centers.
The project began construction in 2018 and is expected to be completed within the first quarter of this year. Some of its structures have already gone into operation since 2019. However, most of its infrastructure is incomplete and abandoned.
A functional facility is now abandoned, water flooding the area. Behind it lays several villas still in mid-construction, invaded by plant life.
The Huyen Thoai DiaTrung Hai (Mediterranian Legends) tourism site, spanning 6.9 ha, with its main investor being the Vicoland Development House and Construction company, now lies abandoned.
The project, with a total investment cost at VND600 billion ($23.6 million), includes 52 villas, along with hotels, venues and apartments. As planned, the project was supposed to enter operation in 2018, but was eventually abandoned.
A row of houses at the resort have been partially completed, with ornamental ponds outside full of algae.
The main entrance of a resort site has been barricaded, but there are no guards at the site.
The ThuaThien-Hue Industrial Economic Zone management board said the resort project was abandoned due to capital difficulties. The board is contacting the project's investor to urge them to resume the project.
