The mourning ceremony for Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong began at the Tran Thanh Tong National Funeral Home in Hanoi at 7 a.m. Thursday. The ceremony was helmed by Permanent Member of the Party Central Committee's Secretariat Luong Cuong.
"For nearly 60 years of revolutionary works, the comrade had had several major and exceptional contributions to the glorious revolutionary cause of our Party and our people. The loss of Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong is a major loss to the Party, the state, the people and his family," Cuong said.

The delegation of the Central Party Committee were led by President To Lam (2nd, L) to pay tribute to Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.
Also among the participants were Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh (R); National Assembly chairman Tran Thanh Man (L); former Party General Secretary Nong DucManh (3rd, L); former Presidents Truong Tan Sang, Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Vo Van Thuong; former National Assembly chairpeople Nguyen Sinh Hung, Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan and Vuong Dinh Hue.
After lighting incenses, the delegation of the Central Party Committee spent a minute in silence to remember him.
PM Pham Minh Chinh Chinh lights the incenses and pays respects at the funeral. He led the delegation of the government to extend condolences with Man and the family.
Among the delegation were former Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, deputy prime ministers, both current and former, and other governmental officials.

National Assembly chairman Tran Thanh Man leads the delegation of the National Assembly into the mourning ceremony. Among the participants were former National Assembly chairpeople Nguyen Sinh Hung, Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, Vuong Dinh Hue.
Permanent Member of the Secretariat Luong Cuong leads the delegation of the Central Steering Committee for Anti-Corruption into the mourning ceremony.
Among the participants were head of the Central Internal Affairs Committee Phan Dinh Trac, head of the Party Organization Commission Le Minh Hung and head of the office of the Central Party Committee Nguyen Duy Ngoc.
The Central Steering Committee for Anti-Corruption was formed by the Politburo in 2013, with Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong as its head until his passing.
Do Van Chien, head of the Central Committee of Vietnam Fatherland Front, leads the delegation of the Central Committee of Vietnam Fatherland Front into the ceremony.
Minister of Defense Phan Van Giang leads the delegation of the Central Military Commission of the defense ministry into the ceremony.
Minister of Public Security Luong Tam Quang leads the delegation of the Central Party Commission of the public security ministry into the ceremony.
