Starting 7 a.m., people from Hang Trong, Cua Nam, Tran Hung Dao and Hang Bong streets gathered at a kindergarten on Tho Nhuom Street to get their shots.
Around 800 people in the area received their shots in the session.
The body temperature and blood pressure of each resident was checked prior to vaccination.
Bui Bich Ngoc said she and her father registered for vaccination through a mobile app.
"I feel lucky to be part of the list quite early. I'm a bit nervous as my father has a history of high blood pressure and frail health, but for the sake of our family and community, we decided to get vaccinated anyway," Ngoc said.
Medical workers perform a health screening exercise before taking residents to the vaccination site. Those with certain contrary underlying conditions or allergies cannot get vaccinated.
For the Wednesday vaccination session, Hoan Kiem residents got Moderna shots. The district has received around 16,000 doses in total - around 7,000 of them the Moderna vaccine.
Officials said residents would be given all the Moderna shots before the AstraZeneca vaccine was administered. The residents don't get to choose which vaccine they want to get.
Following the vaccination, the residents' information is recorded onto a database. A week later, they can receive a vaccination certificate.
