The entire central region has been battered by floods triggered by heavy rains since last Sunday.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting (NCHMF), from 1:00 p.m. Monday to 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, Quang Nam had received 437 millimeters of rain while Quang Ngai got 380 millimeters.

The rains have been caused by a combination of the northeast monsoon and a cold spell from the north.

By Tuesday morning, it has been confirmed that one person has died and two are missing, including the dam worker, due to the floods. The dead victim is a 37-year-old woman swept away by floodwaters in Nui Thanh District of Quang Nam.

The NCHMF said in a statement released at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday that in the next six hours, the central region will receive rain from 20-70 millimeters and more than 100 millimeters in some places.
