Work on the 13-meter-high overpass in Lien Chieu District started in January this year.

Built by Japanese company Mikazuki, the overpass cost VND42 billion (US$1.78 million) and could be a highlight for the western part of city where tourism has not yet been bustling.

The path leading to the overpass on both sides of the observatory recreates the image of a knot in the Japanese art of knitting, showing the strength of the friendship relationship between Vietnam and Japan.

Odaka Yoshimune, chairman of Mikazuki Corporation, said that the overpass is to be used to help tourists get safely from Mikazuki Da Nang Resort & Spa to other areas.

Covering 13 hectares, the resort carries a distinct touch of Japanese architecture and other features like the miniature green garden in the shape of Fuji Mountain at its entrance.

It also has 294 beach-view rooms, with prices starting from VND3.7 million a night.
