Work on the bridge spanning a namesake estuary began last March.
To cost VND2.4 trillion (US$101.45 million), the bridge will be 2.36 kilometers long and 20 meters wide with four lanes.
Of its 40 piers, 14 have been built so far, with the tallest being 34m high.
It takes 2.5 months to build a pier.
Workers make an iron framework to cover a bored pile.
There are around 100 workers at the construction site on average.
Bridge piers are under construction at Bau Hai Lagoon.
To build Thuan An Bridge, a protective poplar forest was cut down to make space for storing building materials and housing workers.
After the work is completed, the forest will be replanted.
Thuan An Bridge is expected to be completed in 2025.
It will then be connected to the national coastal road to improve transport links between sports and industrial parks on the central coast and attract more investment into Thua Thien-Hue.
