After more than three years in use, Ba Son Bridge, located near Bach Dang Wharf Park in District 1, has transformed its appearance.
It now stands out at night thanks to the newly installed lighting system.
Costing VND3.1 trillion (US$121.7 million), the bridge spans nearly 1.5 km, features six lanes, and was completed in April 2022.
Its cable-stayed design includes a 113-meter-high dragon-shaped tower that tilts toward Thu Thiem.
The bridge links Ton Duc Thang Street in District 1 with Thu Duc City. Nearby landmarks include Bach Dang Wharf Park, the Water Bus Station, and the Ba Son underground metro station.
The bridge viewed from District 1 toward Binh Thanh District, with Landmark 81, Vietnam's tallest building, in the distance.
According to Dai Quang Minh Corp (Thadico), the bridge has been equipped with direct-mounted LED lights.
In its first phase, the lighting system was installed on the cables, tower supports, and side structures of the bridge. This setup highlights the architectural features of the bridge.
The LED lights can change colors on the cables, emphasizing the bridge's design.
In the next phase, exterior LED lights will be installed on the cables to create effects tailored to architectural themes or city events.
According to an approved plan, four bridges will connect Thu Duc City to HCMC's center across the Saigon River.
Ba Son and Thu Thiem bridges are currently in use, while construction has not yet started on the remaining two.
