The outside of the shop that sells and repairs bicycle and electric motorcycles in No.1, Alley 43/98/31, Trung Kinh Street, where the fire broke out.
It began around 0:30 a.m. and quickly engulfed the 150-square-meter house with two separate blocks with a courtyard between them. The blaze resulted in the deaths of 14 people.
The courtyard was used for selling and repairing motorcycles and bicycles.
Many witnesses reported hearing explosions coming from the house during the fire.
The wooden door to one room burned to charcoal with the glass melting and shattering into pieces, indicating the heat of the flames.
An outer wall of the house had to be broken by rescuers to enter.
A ladder was used to rescue people inside.
The fire brigade broke open the lock on the main gate to deploy personnel and equipment to access the blaze through the main yard and rooms on each floor. Three people were rescued using this approach.
