After ten years of construction, the first metro line in HCMC is now 92% complete.
The route runs 19.7 kilometers to link Ben Thanh Market with Suoi Tien Theme Park in Thu Duc City. It has 14 stations, three underground and the rest elevated.
Now, the station in front of the Saigon Hi-Tech Park in Thu Duc City is 99% complete, and the others, around 90%.
The station has three floors, stretches 150 meters in length, 23 meters in width, and 22 meters in height.
The entrance to the ground floor includes a staircase leading up to the ticket booths and lobby. On both sides of the stairs are escalators and elevators, which are now covered with green canvas.
This floor also comprises the technical area, water tank and fire protection system, and the parking lot.
The first-floor spreads across 1,200 square meters. It is designed as a place to check tickets and will feature an administrative room and souvenir shop.
The walkways on the side of the tracks are paved with ceramic tiles and have a yellow path designed for people with disabilities.
The entrance to the train has 24 doors on each side built of aluminum and glass.
Work is still underway to connect the entire metro line to the power grid. The electricity system at the elevated station in front of Saigon Hi-Tech Park has been basically completed.
The first metro line had its first test run with all 17 trains in late August inside the Long Binh depot of Thu Duc City.
