The team split into two smaller groups for their trip back home. The first group included players from southern Vietnam, who took a flight from Cambodia to HCMC's Tan Son Nhat Airport at around 3 p.m.
The other group included players from northern Vietnam, who took a flight back to Hanoi's Noi Bai Airport Tuesday night.
Huynh Nhu brings with her a conical hat gifted to her by a fan. The 31-year-old forward scored three goals at the games, including two in the final against Myanmar on Monday.
Huynh Nhu was hugged by her mother Le Thi Lai. Both her parents traveled from Tra Vinh to Cambodia to cheer on her.
The players received warm welcomes, flowers and gifts from their loved ones and fans at the airport.
This year was the team’s fourth consecutive SEA Games gold medal.

Chuong Thi Kieu did not participate in the final due to injuries, but she still practiced with the team at the SEA Games. She plans to recover to prepare for the World Cup.

Following the final, VFF said it would reward the team with VND2 billion ($85,278), on top of a VND1.6 billion reward for previous wins. A business also awarded the team with VND200 million after the final, bringing the total amount of reward money for the team this SEA Games to VND3.8 billion.
The players have a few days to visit their family before going to Europe for training next month in preparation for the World Cup.
