Fans nationwide flooded the streets in jubilation after Vietnam’s national football team secured a 2-1 victory over Thailand in the ASEAN Cup final’s first leg, held Thursday in Phu Tho, northern Vietnam.

Enthusiastic supporters in HCMC brandished flags and made noise with pots, enhancing the festive mood.

In the picture, 20-year-old Vo Chuan cloaked in the national flag and wielding a pot lid and spoon, was pictured stirring up excitement. He recounted how the match’s first half ended scoreless and tense, but ultimately, the victory brought immense joy.

“It’s been six years since I last drove out to celebrate,” Chuan said.
