The team had a training session at Al Maktoum Stadium, Dubai, on Sunday night, one day before the match with Indonesia.
All players wore number-less jerseys during training. Although the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has ensured the security and confidentiality of the training session, Park stayed alert since the opponent could still take a look at the main line-up.
For the same reason, in the friendly with Jordan on May 31, Park let the players switch shirt numbers.
Only keeper Bui Tan Truong (L) wore his usual number 24 jersey. Either him or Nguyen Van Toan (R) will be Vietnam’s main keeper in forthcoming games, since the number one custodian Dang Van Lam couldn’t join the team due to a Covid-19 case at his club Cerezo Osaka.
In the pre-match interview, Park highly rated the spirit of Indonesia’s young players, but affirmed Vietnam would win the game.
The press were only allowed a peak at the session for the first 15 minutes, the typical warm-up phase.
On Sunday night, Indonesia also commenced training. Despite elimination after losing their first five games, Indonesia showed improvement as they drew with Thailand 2-2 in the sixth match last week.
