The food street is more than 1.5 km long from the intersection of Phan Xich Long - Phan Dang Luu to Van Kiep Street.
It opened on Jan. 26, becoming one of the city's latest nightlife venues.
A food court inside the Rach Mieu Sports Club is arranged with many tables and chairs for visitors to sit and enjoy the food.
Nguyen Quang Trung said he rented a kiosk for about VND10 million (US$411) a month to sell all kinds of snails.
"I sell each portion for VND40,000 to make it affordable for all visitors. My business has been going very well for about a week now," Trung said.
The picture shows apple snail steamed with lemongrass, which is served with a dip of ginger fish sauce.
Near Trung's snail stall is Tu Hoang's stall selling local specialties such as Lang Son and Cao Bang sausages, Hanoi spring rolls, and Saigon’s pha lau, a type of Vietnamese stew with organ meats.
On some days she sold up to 20 kg of sausages.
"The food street just opened so it's quite crowded," she added.
Sitting and eating with her husband and children, Phan Thi Diem Huong felt that the food was quite delicious but a bit expensive.
"This place has a parking space but there is no one to look after it, which is a bit inconvenient," Huong said.
Phan Xich Long food street has more than 220 food service businesses.
According to Phu Nhuan district leaders, all activities will be managed by an app called "Phan Xich Long food street."
The application will connect three parties - management agencies, business owners and diners.
The business owner will declare operational information, address, menu, and food prices.
Diners can search for restaurants, reserve a table, choose dishes, see prices, and pay via the app.
Officials hope the new food hub will create a big hit for the local tourism industry and boost the night-time economy.
The city has already opened a few street food hubs like the one next to the Ho Thi Ky flower market in District 10.
