Hide KL's chef Shaun Ng (R) recently shared a photo with Lau on his Xiaohongshu account. In the picture, Lau, dressed casually in a denim jacket and white pants, smiled warmly as he posed with Ng in the restaurant's kitchen, according to The Star.
The 13-seater restaurant is located within the Ritz-Carlton Residences at 105 Jalan Ampang, Kuala Lumpur.
It is a chef's table restaurant with a discrete entrance tucked away on the side of the lobby.
The interior has a trendy feel, with its U-shaped marble counter overlooking the open kitchen.
It was included in the 2024 Michelin Guide Kuala Lumpur & Penang selection.
In addition to being a Michelin-selected restaurant, Hide also received the Michelin Sommelier Award for sommelier Yap Cze Ying last year.
According to Michelin Guide, local produce and seafood are prominently used in dishes such as lobster mapo with Sichuan pepper oil, and puff pastry with kaya mousse.
The restaurant is open for dining from Tuesday to Saturday between 5:30 p.m. and 11 p.m.
For lunch, it serves from Friday to Saturday between noon and 2:30 p.m.
Inspired by the Indian-Malaysian culture and New England lobster roll, the restaurant creates a dish featuring Tandoori Lobster with Budu Aioli, Shallot Pakora, all nestled in house-made Brioche bun.
This dish is a combination of hand-dived scallop, southern Thai yellow fruit curry and pine nut tofu.
