The plant in Phu Son Commune in Huong Thuy Town, 22 km from Hue City, is being built by China’s Everbright Environment Company at a cost of VND1.7 trillion (US$69.1 million).
It is nearing completion and will start operating this quarter.
It is designed to treat around 220,000 tons of waste a year, generating 93 million kWh of electricity.
Waste brought to the factory by the Hue Urban Environment and Public Works JSC.
The garbage is weighed before being taken into the waste plant and surveilled through a camera system.
Staff in the monitoring room. They will control and observe all stages of the waste treatment and electricity generation through cameras.
A truck carries waste into a closed storage area designed to keep odors in. From here, the garbage is transferred to the incinerator.

The waste is burned at high temperatures, creating steam, and the steam drives the turbine, generating electricity.
The factory's wastewater is fully treated to make sure it meets all safety standards before being discharged into the environment.
The wastewater parameters will be sent to the province Department of Natural Resources and Environment for checking through an automatic monitoring system.
Le Ba Phuc, the department's director, said once the plant opens the province would shut down several landfills without specifying how many or which ones.
