The central part of Thai Nguyen Province remained submerged on Wednesday night.
Duong Minh Tu Street in Quang Vinh Ward turned into a river, and was almost completely isolated.
For the past three days people living there have depended on relief supplies as power and water have been cut off. They have had to move to higher floors or seek shelter elsewhere.
At less severely flooded areas in central Thai Nguyen, aid teams from both inside and outside the province have been busy putting together essentials such as rice, bread and drinking water to distribute to households in Quang Vinh Ward.
A woman named Hong (R) wades through the water to receive food aid.
She said: "My family has six people and our house is deep inside a narrow alley where boats cannot reach. I have to wade out here to get the food for the family."
With floodwaters reaching up to his chest, Nguyen The Son has to use a Styrofoam box to transport relief supplies.
"There are 20 people staying in my house, including neighbors, as it is in the highest area," he said.
Nguyen Dinh Luan takes supplies into his house, where the water is knee-high.
"The floodwaters have receded by half, but the damage they caused for our family's three workshops is nearly VND1 billion (US$38,000).
"Now we have to rebuild because the water rose too fast, and we couldn't evacuate in time."
Sitting on the second floor, Ky and his wife use a plastic bucket as they wait for a relief boat at night.
He said the floodwaters in the last three days have submerged their first floor, and they are unable to cook any food without power or water supply.

Through Wednesday night many people waded through the water with polystyrene boxes to get essentials because relief boats cannot reach their houses deep inside alleys.

In deeper and more remote areas, the military has been rescuing seniors and children and taking them to safety.
Nhu Tien of Quang Vinh Ward said: "My family has three children, and our house is under two meters of water. I just managed to get someone to bring a boat to ferry my children and me out to relatives'. My husband is staying behind to wait for the water to recede."
Through the night and until Thursday morning, at relatively dry places in central Thai Nguyen, aid workers wait for boats to deliver supplies to flooded areas.
According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, on Wednesday morning the water level in the Cau River reached 29.9 meters at the Gia Bay station in Thai Nguyen, surpassing the historic 2024 level by 1.09 meters.
Out of the province's 92 communes and wards, 33 are under one to two meters of water, and many places lack power and water and are depending on relief supplies.
