The Han River, spanning 7.7 kilometers, starts from Quang Nam Province and flows towards Da Nang and the sea. Da Nang authorities have constructed numerous bridges to connect the two sides of the river since 2000.
The river is also a popular tourist destination, with boats available for tourists to view the city at night.
However, there are eyesores on the banks of the river. An abandoned cruise project begun in 2017 was never completed and the debris has yet to be cleaned up. As time went on, the infrastructure fell into a state of decline, and people began to litter the place.
A sewer can be seen at an intersection between Bach Dang and Nhu Nguyet streets in Hai Chau District, next to a parking lot for tourist buses and cars.
Several sections of Nhu Nguyet Street are full of litter, either with domestic waste or leftover construction materials. Empty land plots have to put up signs warning people not to litter.
Authorities of Thuan Phuoc Ward said they would look into the matter and deal with it.

Cao Dinh Hai, chairman of the Nai Hien Dong Ward People's Committee, said the abandoned cruise ship project near the bridge has no fences erected, which allows people to discard trash there at night.
"We have had to hire cleaners many times, and have even deployed patrol teams to hand out fines, but the situation has not improved much," Hai said, adding that the authorities would request businesses to either finish the project or erect fences to prevent people from getting inside and littering.
A number of broken household appliances and leftover construction materials are seen littered on the river bank.
Plastic waste pollutes the water.
Nguyen Xuan Hoa, deputy director of the Da Nang Urban Environment Co., said the firm had to deploy teams to collect the trash, but due to the sheer amount of waste discharged by people, not all of it could be collected.
The sidewalk on the eastern bank of the Han River, Tran Hung Dao Street, is damaged, posing a risk to pedestrians.
