Nonstop downpours from late Tuesday night to early morning flooded many residential areas and roads in Hanoi’s districts of Chuong My, Hoai Duc and Thanh Tri, forcing evacuation and paralyzing traffic.

Bui Xa Village in Xuan Mai Town of Chuong My District is completed isolated by floodwaters on Wednesday morning.

At 6 a.m. on Wednesday, the water level on the Bui River through Chuong My District was measured at 6.75 m.

Storm Prapiroon weakened into a tropical depression on Tuesday morning after making landfall in the northern Quang Ninh Province.

It still caused heavy rains across the northern region, with Xuan Mai Town of Chuong My receiving over 330 mm of rain between 7 p.m. Tuesday and 7 a.m. Wednesday.
