Exam-takers started gathering at Vo Thi Sau High School in Ho Chi Minh City's Binh Thanh District at 1 p.m. Volunteers from Hong Bang University were there to help out and provide students with umbrellas and water bottles in the scorching summer heat.
The annual high school graduation exam is the largest in Vietnam and considered by many as the most important. Its results play a role in setting one's career path, as it will decide if a student can get into their desired university, or any university.
Several students took photos before registering for the examination at Trung Vuong High School in District 1.
Nguyen Thuy Dung, a student at Vo Thi Sau High School, broke her leg a week ago, so she was escorted by her mother. She wants to enter an international university in HCMC.
"My difficulties moving around won’t affect my performance on the examination," Dung said.

Over 85,000 people are taking the examination in HCMC this year. There are 156 official examination sites and six backup sites, according to the Department of Education and Training. Around 14,600 people are being dispatched to assist with the examination.
Nguyen Ho Yen Nhi from HCMC's Binh Thanh District said she felt comfortable before the examination.
"I believe I would do well on every subject. I am most confident in History and Geography," she said.

On Tuesday, over 102,000 students entered 4,300 examination rooms to complete procedures in the capital.

Over 33,000 people will participate in the exams in Dong Nai, an increase of 2,000 from 2022. All devices with Internet connections or capabilities to emit and receive signals must be disabled and sealed at the examination site until the tests are done.
For this year's examination, Dong Nai has dispatch 6,000 people to administer the tests.

At the Quoc Hoc Hue High School for the Gifted, students lit incense at the Nguyen Tat Thanh statue for good luck after completing procedures for the examination.
This year, over 13,000 students will take the exams at 38 sites in Thua Thien-Hue Province in central Vietnam.

The examination will take place Wednesday and Thursday. Students will take tests in Literature, Math, Foreign Language and either a group of natural sciences subjects (Biology, Chemistry, Physics) or social sciences (Geography, History and Citizens' Education).
Results are expected to be announced on July 18.
