Black Friday frenzy returns after Covid downer

There were flocks of people at a mall on Hanoi’s Nguyen Trai Road where many fashion and electronics stores offered Black Friday discounts.

Some of them offered discounts of up to 50%.

Clothes were the most sought-after items.

On Chua Boc Street, which has many fashion shops, sellers placed their racks right on the sidewalks to attract passers-by.

Shoppers showed up at noon at footwear and handbag stores on Ba Trieu Street.

Similar scenes were witnessed at HCMC malls.

Nguyen Thi Thanh said she had to leave 30 minutes earlier than usual to ensure she could find parking space at Vincom Dong Khoi in District 1.

Some shops had to regulate the queues.

Many shoppers were interested in handbags.

Young people were interested in slippers priced from VND129,000 ($5.16).

Cosmetics were discounted by up to 60%, but shops said sales were not as high as in pre-pandemic years.

One woman bought 10 bags worth of discounted items within 60 minutes.

Shoppers had to queue up for parking spots in the evening.
