Thuy, 43, was a top supermodel in Vietnam in the early 2000s. Her modeling career has been recognized with various achievements, including the “2003 Model of the year” prize, awarded by the fashion club of the HCMC Cultural House for Youth.
She pursued looks that were rather on the sexy side during her first years as a model.
She possessed a captivating appearance at 1.7 meters tall. Her large eyes and thick lips garnered her the nickname “Marilyn Monroe of Vietnam.”
Thuy retired from the entertainment industry after she married Vietnamese-American businessman Nguyen Duc An, now 61, in 2006.
Though the marriage only lasted for two years, the couple had two daughters together. They both now live with Thuy after the divorce.
Thuy remarried a lawyer named Truong in 2016, and then had her third child, a son, with him.
Despite having rarely modeled since her first marriage, Thuy managed to maintain her nice figure, which can be seen here in the supermodel’s wedding photos from 2016.
One of the rare events she attended as a model post-marriage was when she opened Vietnamese designer Ngo Nhat Huy’s “Ky Uc Sai Gon” (The Memory of Saigon) fashion show in San Francisco in 2019.
Donning a striped ao dai, Thuy completed her look with black gloves, a colorful headband, and a beehive hairstyle. The look was a recreation of HCMC styles from the past.
The supermodel occasionally updates fans with photos of her daily life on social media. Hiking is one of her favorite hobbies.
At other times, she takes on a more “womanly” look.
Thuy once said she maintained her figure with yoga, running, hiking, and eating healthily.
Her figure helps her pull off different outfits easily, including the black outfit she wore at this 2021 photoshoot.
Thuy (in green ao dai) wore traditional Vietnamese clothes when she gathered with her friends in Vietnam for the 2022 Tet Lunar New Year celebrations.
Her most recent public appearance came at court when she attended a trial deciding whether she or her ex-husband, businessman Nguyen Duc An, should have control of disputed assets worth $12 million.
The supermodel proved her keen eye for fashion with the two outfits she chose to wear to court.
An filed a suit in the HCMC People’s Court in 2010, claiming Thuy had not returned 39 Vietnam-based assets – including several real estate properties, automobiles, and stocks – that he had bought with "money he earned before marriage."
As a foreigner, he "had to register the properties in Thuy’s name.”
The HCMC People's Court announced in August this year that it would finally hold a trial for the case after 13 years. The delays were due to the time it took to "obtain documents related to the properties in dispute,” according to the court.
However, the trial was then adjourned again for “more time to collect and verify evidence.” It is expected to resume on October 16.
