Vietnamese photographer Pham Tuan Ngoc was studying in Paris when he took “The Odeon Kiss.”

The 14 photographs were chosen from the “Regards Croisés” photo contest in which 60 Vietnamese and French photographers submitted images they created in each other’s countries.

The contest was co-hosted by the Embassy of France in Hanoi, the Consulate General of France in Ho Chi Minh City, and the French Institute in Vietnam. In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam-France diplomatic ties, the photos are on display outside the Consulate General of France in Ho Chi Minh City.

“On Their Way to Celebrate Lunar New Year” was taken by French photographer Ludovic Duval in Hanoi in 2012.

“The winning photos' high quality shows the varied perception of Vietnamese artists towards French culture, and vice versa,” Consulate General of France in Vietnam Emmanuelle Pavillon-Grosser, a jury member, said during the exhibition opening ceremony on April 19.

“Go, France, Go” was taken in Toulouse by Nguyen Linh Giang in 2018. During the 2018 World Cup, the French national football team was crowned champion for the second time in their history after winning against Croatia in the final match.

The French photographer Adrien Jean captured Mong ethnic men trading tobacco at the Meo Vac market, Ha Giang, in 2020.
