Some retail companies are selling the $3,500 headset in Vietnam at VND165 million ($6,800). The products are bought from the U.S. and transported to Vietnam on airplanes as personal goods.
The headset has a curved glass attached to the aluminum frame that displays changing color when put on. The glass is durable and can withstand minor impact.
The frames are made of silicon and include speakers on both sides. The straps are made of soft fabric with elasticity. They are easily removable with the push of a button.
The aluminum frame gives the product a firm feel in the hands but is quite heavy compared to other plastic headsets. It has a small crown dial similar to the Apple Watch for users to interact with the device.
The headset includes a micro-LED screen with 23 million pixels, which means its resolution for each eye is higher than a 4K TV.
Apple uses the M2 chip, the same as its MacBooksto operate the headset, which also includes 12 cameras, five sensors and six microphones.
To power the headset, Apple attaches it to a separate battery that is as big as an iPhone 15. Users can put this in their pocket and use it for two hours each with full charge.
Users are required to watch a full tutorial and it takes quite some time to set up the device. Only Apple IDs in the U.S. are accepted as the products are only launched there for now.
Users can still see what is going on in the real world while using apps that are similar toiPhones and iPads. Apple encourages people to use the headset at home or in the office and not while driving.
