Jung’s trip to Vietnam started on April 2 and lasted over ten days. Throughout the trip, the actor traversed various provinces in the northern and central parts of the country and regularly posted updates and photographs on his Instagram account.
He expressed his admiration and respect for the Vietnamese national flag by posing beside the flags that he came across.
“Wherever I went in Vietnam, there were always fans who recognized me and moments where I was touched by their warm hearts, sharing their lives with me,” he expressed.
“I’m glad I decided to visit Vietnam because my life is now more abundant and joyful thanks to you, I hope to see you again.”
The first Vietnamese stop Jung mentioned on Instagram was the northwestern mountainous town of Sa Pa, situated in Lao Cai Province. He opted to explore the area on a rented motorbike, a decision that thrilled his followers, prompting comments that he “seems like a Vietnamese son-in-law.”
He posed beside the monument at the peak of Mount Fansipan, another destination in Lao Cai.
Standing at 3,143 meters, the mountain is the tallest in the Indochinese peninsula and is dubbed “the Roof of Indochina.” It is a popular destination among foreign visitors, including South Koreans, drawn by its captivating landscape, fresh air, and cool climate.
Jung also developed a fondness for Vietnamese food, enthusiastically sharing his culinary adventures, which included tasting pho bo (rice noodles with beef), Saigon beer, and braised anchovies.
The actor subsequently traveled to Da Nang and Hoi An Town in the central region. He stayed at a hotel in Da Nang’s city center, which was equipped with a rooftop swimming pool that offered panoramic views of the city.
He also experienced the unique spinning basket boat in Hoi An’s Bay Mau coconut forest, an attraction that has mesmerized many foreign tourists.
Several Asian celebrities, like Taiwanese actor Jimmy Lin and South Korean actress Ham So Won, have also navigated the swirling boat, resulting in Ham’s tumultuous capsize.
Another highlight of Jung’s Vietnam visit was the Cham Islands in Hoi An, where he embarked on an overnight tour with a local guide. He took it to Instagram to express thanks to the tour guide.
The actor relaxed under the islands’ breathtaking sunset.
The Cham Islands provide visitors with a variety of activities, including scuba diving, fishing, camping, and the chance to explore the daily lives of local fishermen.
Jung explored the island's emerald green sea.
Immersing himself in the local culture, he dined with the tour guide and island residents, even joining in with the local cheer of “Mot, hai, ba, yo” (One, two, three, cheers).
The traditional Vietnamese conical hat remained a constant companion of the actor throughout his journey.
Miss Vietnam 2018 Tieu Vy (R), hailing from Hoi An, had a chance encounter with the actor in the town while she was visiting her family.
Jung, 37, made his acting debut in 2006. He is best known for his roles in the TV series “High Kick!” “My Fair Lady,” “49 Days,” “The Moon Embracing the Sun,” and “Cinderella with Four Knights.”
