Zhang Zhetian, often hailed as “China’s youngest female billionaire,” has drawn attention for her recent appearance as a model for Vogue Art China.
The 32-year-old appeared on the November cover of the magazine.
She also announced she is assuming a new role as guest director for the magazine, overseeing content and promoting cultural and artistic collaborations between China and the rest of the world.
Married to Liu Qiangdong, 51, founder and chairman of the e-commerce company JD.com, she holds key positions in the company, including as an advisor for the company’s fashion business, frequently attending international fashion weeks and events organized by fashion brands.
According to financial research firm Hurun, Zhang and Liu have combined assets of 58 billion yuan (US$8.1 billion).
On Weibo, many netizens praise her for both her looks and abilities.
In 2011 Zhang was admitted to Tsinghua University, one of China’s most prestigious schools, without having to sit an exam.
She declined a role in star auteur Zhang Yimou’s film “The Flowers of War,” citing her studies.
Now she is often seen in elegant outfits while attending art exhibitions.
At an event in October she wore a monochrome outfit, with Sohu commenting on her understated, classic fashion sense.
Zhang usually chooses natural makeup with neutral tones and lightly accentuated eyes, completing a refined and graceful style.
She has said a typical day begins for her at 7 a.m., starting with reading the news and checking emails, followed by meetings with partners and clients.
She enjoys tennis and mountain climbing, and practices yoga.
She had a daughter in 2015 and a second child in 2022. The couple have been secretive about the latter, though some sources report she had twin boys.
