Most customers chose the battery lease option that is priced at VND240 million ($9,500). This means they will pay a monthly fee for the car’s battery depending on the distance traveled.
To own both the battery and the car a customer needs to pay VND322 million.
The VF 3 was announced in June last year. It appeared for the first time at the CES exhibition in the U.S. in January and VinFast started taking orders in May.
VinFast uses 16-inch steel rims for the car, covered in a black plastic plate with the company’s logo. It plans to later offer customers a new style of cover for aesthetic purposes.
VF 3 is bigger than the made-in-China Wuling Mini EV but smaller than the popular gasoline-powered hatchback Kia Morning.
It has a 43-horse-power engine that can provide 110 Nm of torque.
The front mirrors are placed vertically.
The car can achieve speeds of 50 kilometers per hour in 5.3 seconds, according to VinFast.
Users have the option to run the car in Eco mode to save power.
VF 3 battery allows the car to run 210 kilometers. It can be quick charged from 10% to 70% within 36 minutes, compared to the normal charge time of five hours.
The cheapest battery lease option costs VND900,000 per month for distances of less than 1,500 kilometers.
Customers can pay VND1.2 million for distances of up to 2,500 kilometers or VND2 million for longer distances.
The four-seater has two doors with simplistic interior design. It has paddle shifters and two audio speakers.
VF 3 is considered a more competitive option than Wuling Mini EV in terms of distance travel per charge and engine power, but it is also priced higher.
