Kamil Michal Nguyen Van kisses his wife Leigh Alison Redemer after his fight at the Lion Championship 11 (LC11), which is the final event of the tournament's second season in Hanoi.
The 40-year-old fighter had a convincing victory over his much younger opponent Ban Van Hoang, 21.
Redemer, an English teacher in Hanoi, has been accompanying Van to all his fights at the two Lion Championship tournaments the past two years.
She did not only cheer for him but also gave him advice from her observations.
They got married in June.
Redemer joins her husband on stage to celebrate his victory.
Van said the belt is his life's second biggest achievement, after his marriage.
Van leaves the stage with his championship belt, which he failed to win last season after losing to Tran Quang Loc in the final.
Also at the Lion Championship final Saturday night, Brazilian fighter Felipe Negochadle won the belt in the 65 kg class after a difficult fight with Vietnamese Nghiem Van Y that lasted four rounds.
Brazilian fighter Robson Oliveira won the 60 kg class belt only after one round, defeating Vietnamese Bui Truong Sinh with an armbar attack.
