A magnitude 5.5 earthquake struck the northeastern China region on Sunday, the German Research Center for Geosciences (GFZ) said.

The quake was at a depth of 10 km (6.21 miles), GFZ said.

The Associated Press reported that the earthquake occurred near the city of Dezhou, about 300 kilometers (185 miles) south of Beijing, the Chinese capital, at 2:33 a.m.

It knocked down houses and injured at least 10 people but no deaths were reported, it said, citing state media.
