According to Pham Dang Anh Thu, the costume designer, the dress was inspired by Fan’s return to the entertainment industry, representing therebirth of a phoenix, and thus the name "Ice Phoenix."

To simulate the visual impression of ice, Thu made use of the fabrics and created a color transition from blue to white. Swarovski crystal beads were attached on the dress, serving as the highlight of the whole outlook.

Fan was also seen donning another pastel pink feather gown in the photoshoot for the same issue, which was made by a Vietnamese fashion brand that specializes in wedding gowns.

The Chinese star has favored Vietnamese designers recently. Her collection of outfits during her appearance at the Cannes Film Festival in May included two designs by Vietnamese designer Chung Thanh Phong.
