Chinese star actress dazzles in Vietnamese designer gown

The 23-year-old actress looks stunning in a pink-orange mermaid dress at the China Movie Data Gala and Awards Ceremony on Friday in Jingzhou, Hubei. The design is inspired by flower petals combined with feathers, 3D flowers, and hundreds of crystals on the pastel fabric. The details on the gown were handcrafted by 10 artisans over four months.

Liu let her hair loose naturally and used light makeup with accessories such as a hand fan, and small earrings. Her appearance exuded a romantic, classic and elegant style. Designer Tra Linh said the actress's team had been watching her collections launched in Shanghai in March and chose this gown.

The ceremony was held to honor outstanding collective and individual cinema projects in the past year. The event gathered the most famous figures of Chinese cinema like Bona, Chen Kaige and Jackie Chan.

Liu was born in Tonghua, Jilin. A young actress on the rise, she made her screen debut in Zhang Yimou’s film "One Second" in 2020, after signing a contract with his studio during her sophomore year. She went on to work with Zhang in another movie, "Cliff Walkers" in 2021. In 2022-2023, Liu has starred in three more films.

According to Elle, director Yimou recognized Liu’s potential for her intelligence, comprehensiveness and deep understanding of her characters.

Tra Linh, 32, initiated her venture into the fashion industry by establishing a luxury bridal gown boutique in 2013. Beyond cultivating her brand within Vietnam, she has expanded her reach to the fashion markets of the Middle East, Europe, and America. She has made outfits for actresses like Liu Yifei, Fan Bingbing and Mai Davika.
