In a recent episode of talk show "The Echo of Life" hosted by Taiwanese TV host Kevin Tsai, Lin revealed that she has left showbiz to focus on raising her 1-year-old son, The Strait Times reported.
When asked if she would return to acting when her son is grown up, Lin shook her head and said: "How old will he be when he does not need me anymore? How old am I now? You will know the answer when you do the maths."
The 48-year-old actress said it would take at most 15 years, and she hoped her image would remain in people’s minds.

Lin added that she would still make public appearances, but only for charity events. She established The Chiling Charity Foundation in 2011 to help poor families and children as well as support disaster relief projects in Taiwan.
In 2019, Lin married Japanese singer Akira, seven years her junior. She gave birth to a baby boy in 2022 following fertility treatment.
Before her marriage, Lin was one of the top actresses in Taiwan and was often considered one of the most desirable celebrities in the country. In the late 2000s and early 2010s, she constantly topped the list of 100 Sexiest Women by magazine FHM Taiwan.
