Actress holds engagement ceremony with 'Alibaba of Vietnam' founder

Bamboo and Oanh’s favorite flowers, lotuses, were chosen as the main décor theme of the party, which was held in the northern province of Ha Nam.

Around 600 tulips, roses, and orchids were also used.

Decor preparation started two days ago. Oanh’s close friend Huong Xiem, who is in charge of the decoration, told VnExpress: "The hardest part [in the decoration process] was preserving the freshness of the bamboo and lotuses in this scorching weather."

She said that people took turns watering the plants to preserve them.

Oanh prepared three outfits for the ceremony: a red ao dai with patterns of lotuses, a white silk ao dai for the bride's welcoming ceremony, and a mint ao dai for the guest welcoming session.

All of the outfits were made by Miss Vietnam 2010 and Oanh’s close friend Ngoc Han, and had hand embroidery patterns as well as beads attached.

Han also customized outfits for Binh and his mother.

"We started discussing outfits for Oanh on her big day a month ago," Han said. "Oanh is simple and genuine, thus I decided to embroider lotus patterns on her ao dai, so that she can recall today whenever she sees lotuses in the future."

Oanh took her mother-in-law to Han’s store to have a fitting session earlier this week. According to Han, the pair had a lot of fun during the session. Oanh’s mother-in-law jokingly told Han: "I have gained some weight so I don’t look as good as before in ao dai."

She added that the reason behind her weight gain was Oanh, who frequently sent her tasty homemade food.

Oanh, 34, admitted to dating Binh, 43, last August, after photos of the couple circulated on social media.

Oanh is a renowned actress and has starred in several TV series. In 2018, she was nominated for the Vietnamese Golden Kite Award for Best Actress.

Binh is the founder of various tech startups, including Nexttech Group of Technopreneurs, which has been dubbed the "Alibaba of Vietnam" by the Chinese media. He joined Shark Tank Vietnam as one of the showcased investors in 2019.
