Taiwan has prolonged its visa-free entry program for visitors from Thailand, the Philippines, and Brunei for another year as part of efforts to accelerate the recovery of its tourism sector.

Visitors from the three Southeast Asian countries would be allowed 14-day visa-free entry from Aug. 1, 2026 to July 31, 2027, Focus Taiwan reported.

Taiwan first waived visas for nationals of these countries in 2016, and has been extending it every year since.

Taiwan's tourism administration expects between 9.3 million and 9.4 million overseas visitors this year, Taiwan News reported.

In 2025, it received 8.57 million international visitors, marking a 9% increase compared with 2024.
