China adds Indonesia to 240-hour visa-free transit program

China has added Indonesia to its 240-hour visa-free transit program, raising the total number of eligible countries to 55, immigration authorities announced.

Effective from Thursday, eligible Indonesian travelers can enter China through any of 60 designated ports across 24 provincial-level regions and stay for up to 240 hours, or 10 days, without a visa before continuing on to a third destination, Xinhua News Agency reported citing the National Immigration Administration (NIA).

During this visa-free transit period, travelers are allowed to engage in tourism and exchange visits, the NIA noted.

The policy is part of China's broader efforts to boost international travel and exchanges.
