Demand for travel among Vietnamese people is expected to remain strong in 2025 despite economic challenges as 90% of respondents are planning to allocate at least as much for travel next year as they did in 2024, a survey found.

Of the Vietnamese surveyed, 29% plan to increase their travel spending in 2025 while 61% have set aside the same budget as they did this year, according to the survey conducted by online travel platform Agoda in October with over 1,000 participants across 11 Asian markets, including Vietnam.

In terms of frequency, 86% of Vietnamese respondents said they plan to take at least as many trips in 2025 as they did in 2024, with only 14% indicating they will reduce the number of trips they take.

"Despite financial constraints, Vietnamese travelers continue to prioritize meaningful experiences with family and friends over and above other discretionary spend," said Lam Vu, country director of Agoda Vietnam.

"The desire to explore new destinations, both locally and internationally, reflects a growing demand for adventure and value-driven choices," he added.

In the first 10 months of 2024, Vietnam welcomed over 100 million domestic visitors, roughly on par with last year’s figures.
