Authorities in the central province of Quang Binh have allowed travel agencies to launch new tours to explore the Son Boi cave system and Bru-Van Kieu culture.

Qualified travel companies will be allowed to open short-day tour itineraries to the Khe Kieu and Son Boi cave systems that retain their pristine beauty.

The tour, limited to those aged 16 and above, will also enable visitors to explore the mountain-village life of the Bru-Van Kieu ethnic minority.

Quang Binh has long been famous for tours to Son Doong, the world's largest cave, Tu Lan and other smaller equivalents.

The province's authorities are striving to boost tourism following a two-year slump caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Earlier this month, they licensed two private travel firms to offer paragliding services above Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park.

In the first nine months of this year, Quang Binh received over 1.58 million visitors, up 189% from 2021.
