Hanoi ranked second with VND3.53 trillion, an 8% increase, according to the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism.
Both of Vietnam's largest cities also saw a commensurate increase in the number of tourist arrivals during the holidays that wrapped up on Sunday.
They rose by 17% for HCMC to 2.1 million visitors and by 6% for Hanoi to one million.
Da Nang was third in terms of revenues, reaching VND1.88 trillion after growing by over 19%.
The 70% increase in the number of domestic flights to the city and 45% increase in international flights contributed significantly to its revenues.
Other localities whose tourism revenues exceeded VND1 trillion were Kien Giang (home to Phu Quoc Island), Quang Ninh (Ha Long Bay), Khanh Hoa (Nha Trang), Lao Cai (Sa Pa), and Ninh Binh provinces.
There were an estimated 12.5 million domestic travelers, up 19%.
The number of foreign visitors rose by 30%, driven by favorable visa policies and tourism promotion campaigns.
