In 2022, Vietnam Airlines operated 115,987 flights with 11,486 delays, which is equivalent to nearly 12.5% of delay rate, while Vietjet Air's delay rate was 11.5%.
Six domestic airlines made 312,841 flights, of which, 89.7% took off on time, a 5% decrease from 2021.
Vietnam Airlines is the airline with the most flights, 115,987 in 2022, followed by Vietjet with 115,349 flights, and Bamboo Airways with 51,959 flights. Pacific Airlines, Vasco and Vietravel Airlines operated 16,567, 8,084 and 4,895 flights respectively.
The national flag carrier is also the airline with the highest delay rate in 2022. During 2021, Vietnam Airlines was the second-most on-time airline in the market, with a rate of 95%.
Two years prior, Vietjet was the airline with the most flight delays.
VASCO had 635 delayed flights, accounting for 7.9% of its total flights. Viettravel had 343 delayed flights, accounting for 7%. Pacific Airlines had 990 delayed flights, accounting for 6% of its flights.
The main reason given for flight delays was late return flights, with a rate of 67.6%.
In 2022, there were 1,155 flights canceled, of which Vietnam Airlines canceled 715 flights, while Vietjet canceled 266 flights.
