Vietjet suspends 10 international flights Wednesday as Super Typhoon Ragasa hits Hong Kong

Vietnamese carrier Vietjet announced that it will suspend 10 international flights on Wednesday as Super Typhoon Ragasa, the world's most powerful tropical cyclone this year, swept through Hong Kong.

According to the airline, ten international flights will be temporarily halted, including the ones between Ho Chi Minh City and Hong Kong, Phu Quoc and Hong Kong, Nha Trang and Macau, and Da Nang and Macau.

Some other domestic and international flights may also be affected subsequently, Vietjet said.

The carrier advised passengers to check flight schedules and local weather updates before heading to the airport.

Some flights may be rescheduled or temporarily suspended due to the storm's impact.

Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet had canceled multiple flights to Hong Kong and Macau on Tuesday as the super typhoon swept through the northern East Sea.

Ragasa lashed Hong Kong with hurricane-force winds and torrential rain on Wednesday as the city shut down and more than 700 flights were canceled.

In the gambling hub of Macau next to Hong Kong, the authorities issued typhoon signal 10, its highest warning, at 5:30 a.m. on Sept. 24, Reuters reported.
