Vietjet launches non-stop service to Australia

Vietjet Air began direct flights from Ho Chi Minh City to Melbourne, Australia, on April 8, with three weekly round trips on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

The inaugural flight, VJ082, which left Melbourne on April 9 on the return trip, landed at Tan Son Nhat Airport, HCMC, the same day, was greeted with a traditional water cannon ceremony.

The flights take off at Ho Chi Minh City at 10:55 a.m. and arrive in Melbourne at 22:35 a.m. (local time) on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

The Melbourne - Ho Chi Minh City flights on Sundays, Wednesdays and Fridays depart at 12:30 a.m. and land at 6:30 a.m. (local time).

Lien, a passenger on the inaugural flight, said she and her husband booked tickets to visit their cousin in Australia as soon as they heard the airline was launching its first non-stop HCMC - Melbourne service.

"I was very happy to be on the inaugural flight today."

The airline deploys the wide-bodied Airbus A330 aircraft on the sector, and offers a ranges of products, services and utilities exclusively for customers. Passengers can search for the latest promotions on Vietjet Air's website, mobile app and loyalty program.
